I had the amazing opportunity to spend 11 days in Galilee. We actually moved our entire "university lifestyle" to Galilee. All of us students, all of the teachers, all of their families, and all of our fun loaded on busses and headed up to Galilee. </div>

Oh man has it been ages since I last updated my blog... sorry about that. I have had a spectacular past month and have been blessed beyond all imagination. I have learned so much and experienced even more. So here we go! This post is an update concerning our trip to Bethlehem, the best 4th of July in Jerusalem, and one last trip to the Dome of the Rock. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
CHRISTMAS IN JULY? Bethlehem was spectacular. There is something special about that small city. Bethlehem is actually only about five miles south of Jerusalem located on a small hill. We were able to visit a lot of places but my favorites were the church commemorating where Jesus was born and Shepherds Hill. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Anna Marie and myself setting at the place where Jesus was most likely born. It has now been all decorated by the church that owns it but it still was amazing to be here. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QXvwraw-qdI/UBU6UfzgpvI/AAAAAAAAAcw/_R-amjsvBuE/s1600/Baby+Jesus.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QXvwraw-qdI/UBU6UfzgpvI/AAAAAAAAAcw/_R-amjsvBuE/s640/Baby+Jesus.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Me, Lane, and Lauren on Shepherds Hill. It is right between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. We had an amazing devotional here and sang a bunch of Christmas songs and thought about if we would have been willing to go see the new baby Jesus. Would you?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JRfMI6xXs0g/UBU8IJE8PbI/AAAAAAAAAd0/hAT8gKkgJN8/s1600/THree+friends+at+shephards+field.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JRfMI6xXs0g/UBU8IJE8PbI/AAAAAAAAAd0/hAT8gKkgJN8/s640/THree+friends+at+shephards+field.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While in Bethlehem, I picked up one of my favorite souvenirs of this whole trip... a white baby blessing blanket. This means that I will get to bless all of my own kids in a blanket that came from the same town that Jesus was born in! Pretty cool huh? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As the 4th quickly approached, a bunch of the students here got a little bummed. The 4th is that time of summer when all the family gets together, you play games, swim, eat yummy food, and watch fireworks. Definitely a time to feel a little homesick. But no worries, thanks to the Ludlows, and wonderful kitchen staff, and our FHE committee, the 4th over here in Jerusalem was one of my favorites of all time! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After classes in the morning, I headed over to the Ludlow's to make some 4th of July cakes! Sister Ludlow, Lane, and I headed to the store (in a real car) to get all the ingredients while Brother Ludlow stayed home and baked the two cakes (he is pretty domestic if you ask me)! We then spent the afternoon playing games, getting our nails painted by Marissa, watching movies, and most importantly decorating cakes! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is one of them! Isn't pretty? Melia and Marissa helped with the decorating and they did such a great job!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nGo6kLhqjEM/UBU8tkYarnI/AAAAAAAAAeE/kTQg6XRkYgE/s1600/cake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nGo6kLhqjEM/UBU8tkYarnI/AAAAAAAAAeE/kTQg6XRkYgE/s640/cake.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are all of us with the cake: Chloe, me, Brother Ludlow, Sister Ludlow, Natalie, Hannah, Joe, Lane, Marissa, and Melia. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e2E-6f0a9SM/UBU8gb5YVhI/AAAAAAAAAd8/dtLM-2VHo_A/s1600/WHole+group+cakes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-e2E-6f0a9SM/UBU8gb5YVhI/AAAAAAAAAd8/dtLM-2VHo_A/s640/WHole+group+cakes.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Little did we know, the best part of our day was yet to come! Akhmed (the head chef) had prepared a DELICIOUS meal for us! We had REAL HAMBURGERS!!! They were so good. In addition to the hamburgers, we had corn, potato salad, salad, and pie and ice cream for dessert. A pretty "4th of July" meal if you ask me! Thank you, Akhmed!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lane and I were so excited for our Hamburgers (come to find out, when you don't eat real hamburgers, due to Kosher laws, for almost three months, you get really excited)!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh how I love the Ludlows! Joe, Josh, and Marissa (she broke her poor little ankle jumping on a trampoline).</div>
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V-cqs280NO8/UBU7R5ZZwmI/AAAAAAAAAdc/sTkMBv3IERA/s1600/Ludlows.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V-cqs280NO8/UBU7R5ZZwmI/AAAAAAAAAdc/sTkMBv3IERA/s640/Ludlows.jpg" width="428" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This collage is for David Cramer! We realized that we had not taken any pictures together this entire trip so we pegged the 4th as the day that we would take a pic or two or three together! Here you go Cramer (aka... funniest kid here)!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We ended the day with "Minute to Win It" games, flag cakes and the National Anthem, a massive dance party, and fireworks over the city (there are fireworks every night here so we all sat outside waiting for someone to light some!) HAPPY 4th! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
DOME OF THE ROCK!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As our trip comes to a close, a group of us girls decided that we would make one last trip to the Dome of the Rock! Oh how I love this building!</div>

Woot Woot<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last week I had the amazing opportunity to spend four days in Jordan. There are many things that I learned and many new things I experienced. Here is a short list of what Jordan taught me:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">I had NO idea what hot really was! OH MAN! One day it was around 110 degrees IN THE SHADE! Yep... talk about hot! And even a little bit humid! BARF!</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Jordan roads are horrible! For a period of three hours straight, I felt like I was on a roller coaster! </li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Jordan is an extremely safe country... I never felt endangered. Thank goodness.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">The King of Jordan and the Royal Family have portraits ALL OVER! Kind of cool. </li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Jordan is a country that I didn't know was soooooo coooool! So glad I got to visit and learn the things I did!</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So here are some pictures from the week to share some of the amazing experiences. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Mount Nebo: On Monday we visited Mount Nebo which is where many believe Moses "died." </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Booke, myself, Robin, and Anna Marie with the view from Mount Nebo in the background... yep, practically nothing. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9XhwhUfRvZ4/T_L0H1hRrAI/AAAAAAAAAbo/720cWF5plRY/s1600/Mt.+Nebo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9XhwhUfRvZ4/T_L0H1hRrAI/AAAAAAAAAbo/720cWF5plRY/s640/Mt.+Nebo.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After Mount Nebo, we headed to Madaba where we visited a beautiful church with an amazing mosaic map on the floor. This is Annie and myself outside the Church! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VJNS6KKNtLw/T_KYm7PbKJI/AAAAAAAAAZA/dYdyGmpCVZk/s1600/Madaba+Church.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VJNS6KKNtLw/T_KYm7PbKJI/AAAAAAAAAZA/dYdyGmpCVZk/s640/Madaba+Church.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the mosaic map. The historical significance of this map actually is quite amazing. It is the oldest map that has been found of the holy land. This mosaic has aided many archaeologist in finding specific things; especially in the Old City. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pxMoo3cRRNk/T_Ka10i7Z7I/AAAAAAAAAZM/eYKSJgzfXdQ/s1600/Map.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pxMoo3cRRNk/T_Ka10i7Z7I/AAAAAAAAAZM/eYKSJgzfXdQ/s640/Map.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To end Monday, we went to the burial place of John the Baptist. It is at the top of this mountain surrounded by barren mountains and off in the distance you can see part of the Dead Sea. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Beautiful Lane and I with the rolling mountains in the background. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-onHdMqrO2U4/T_KiKreVHCI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/luNHgJVowQs/s1600/Me+and+Lane+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-onHdMqrO2U4/T_KiKreVHCI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/luNHgJVowQs/s640/Me+and+Lane+.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Monday night, we were driving along on our "roller coaster" bus when all of a sudden we stopped. We all got off the bus to take a picture of this: the most stunning sun set ever!! Such a tender mercy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6kSvEH-n7Lk/T_L0u5BMiYI/AAAAAAAAAcM/b3OebDqwP6k/s1600/Sunset.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6kSvEH-n7Lk/T_L0u5BMiYI/AAAAAAAAAcM/b3OebDqwP6k/s640/Sunset.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: x-large;">PETRA!!!! I WENT TO PETRA!!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In case you don't know what Petra is (cause I didn't... confession), I have included some pictures to inform you of the amazingness of this place. This is where they filmed Indiana Jones. Basically, Petra is a city that was cut out of the mountain side. There are stunning buildings carved out of rock! So here we go! This possibly could make the top 10 best days of my life!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Shelly, Lauren, myself, and Pam as we make our way through the Siq. The Siq is a lot like the Narrows in Zion's National Park. There are tall walls of colorful rock that wind back and forth. Truly stunning!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OvA-wWTYG14/T_L0eQR-FII/AAAAAAAAAb8/Isb5E_zt50A/s1600/Siq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OvA-wWTYG14/T_L0eQR-FII/AAAAAAAAAb8/Isb5E_zt50A/s640/Siq.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Immediately upon exiting the Siq, you come upon the Treasury. AMAZING! Yes, this is the exact location that Indiana Jones was looking for the Arc of the Covenant. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And yes, I RODE A CAMEL!! Woot Woot! I now can mark this one off of my bucket list! How cool huh? I rode a camel in front of the treasury in Petra! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--tuXJxht-gw/T_Kc5XnPu2I/AAAAAAAAAZk/G-vIR0ux8Nc/s1600/Me+On+Camel+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--tuXJxht-gw/T_Kc5XnPu2I/AAAAAAAAAZk/G-vIR0ux8Nc/s640/Me+On+Camel+2.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Analise and I on our camels! SO FUN! Come to find out, Camels are SUPER tall! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok... I just had to! KISS A CAMEL!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Iw_zoFu7CkI/T_Kcds8vlYI/AAAAAAAAAZc/pU1MTCf5_Io/s1600/Me+Kissing+a+Camel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Iw_zoFu7CkI/T_Kcds8vlYI/AAAAAAAAAZc/pU1MTCf5_Io/s640/Me+Kissing+a+Camel.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />So, I have this really cool friend here... her name is Jerica! She went all out and definitely dressed up like she could have been in Indiana Jones. Thus, we decided to take an action picture of us holding up this rock! LOVE HER! Please appreciate the vest with fringe at the bottom, green cargo pants, and the official LEATHER HAT! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pqBIVv8Kwn0/T_KgYu33HSI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/ZA_uBj9klyw/s1600/Me+and+Jerica.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pqBIVv8Kwn0/T_KgYu33HSI/AAAAAAAAAZ8/ZA_uBj9klyw/s640/Me+and+Jerica.jpg" width="428" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We then hiked to the Monastery! It was quite the long hike but so worth it. Yes, these amazing buildings are actually carved straight out of the mountain side. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Lane and I.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hailey, me, and Analise hiked up to another lookout point. Monastery is in the background. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We then went to a bunch of tombs. So yes, I had to make a zombie pose! Typical! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Actually, these tombs were really cool and they had amazing acoustics so a group of us sang songs in them! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Wednesday morning we went to the Hercules Temple site. This is Analise and I. We were complete twins this day.</div>

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next, we went to Jerash! JERASH IS STUNNING! It honestly was probably one of the coolest sites we have been to. Jerash is an ancient Roman city located in the middle of Jordan! There are hundreds of hundreds of columns still standing. You can almost imagine what the actual city could have been like. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is Brooke and I with Jerash in the background. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We love straight jumping pictures. Note: All of our feet are in fact off of the ground. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just having a little fun in Jerash!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Talk about cool! Everything from a 1968 Rolls-Royce to a 1984 Ashton Martin, the cars here were SWEET! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one was one of my favorites: a 2008 16.4 Coupe Bugatti Veyron! This thing can fly... it goes so fast! Other cars that I loved were the Mercedes, and two bright red Ferraris. SWEET!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
We spent the last day of our trip at the Jordan river. We went to Bethany Beyond Jordan to see the traditional Baptismal site of Jesus. We had a wonderful devotional here and enjoyed the spirit of the occasion. Interesting fact, we were on the Jordan side, but what you see behind us is Israel. Yes, all that separates these two countries is this small river. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Joe Ludlow and I. He is such a great kid... one of my favorites! We talked for a long time on the bus ride home and he truly does have some wonderful goals and ambitions in this life. One of my favorite 14 year old friends. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
One last quick thing... in Aman we stayed in a very nice hotel. A group of us girls were assigned to stay in the "Royal Apartments" which were practically really nice apartments on the top floor of this hotel. How lucky am I? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rg_9iepueFU/T_Kk-6EeTXI/AAAAAAAAAaw/ux_2TNkAh_w/s1600/Me+in+Royal+Apartments.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rg_9iepueFU/T_Kk-6EeTXI/AAAAAAAAAaw/ux_2TNkAh_w/s400/Me+in+Royal+Apartments.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well Jordan was amazing and I really enjoyed everything we saw! The coolest part was saying "I can't wait to go home" and having "home" be Jerusalem! I am so blessed to be here learning the things I am learning and experiencing the things I am experiencing. </div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ow7hTyHjbOM/T-GE506MePI/AAAAAAAAAYg/6cHLIck6aYM/s1600/Water+Level.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a>What could possibly be a better solution for a hot day in Jerusalem? Nothing but the one and only Hezekaih's Tunnel: originally built as water storage/constant source of water for the City of David, now used as source of fun and relief from heat for JC students. It was so fun and definitely needed. The water at first truly was cold but it felt oh soooo goooood! Hezekia's tunnel was chiseled out during the day's of King David's reign. This tunnel is 1/3 of a mile long. At some points the ceiling is really high and at some points you have to bend over to keep from hitting your head. At the highest point the water came to mid thigh but for the majority of the walk it was just above my ankles. All in all, such a fun trip. A group of us hope to go back and do the entire tunnel without lights. Exciting? YEP!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is Brother Harper (aka best teacher EVER) teaching us about the Pool of Siloam. This is the actual place where Jesus healed the blind man. There are very few places here in Jerusalem that are the ACTUAL places that Jesus walked. Most places would be 20 feet below the current ground because of build-up over time. But this location has been excavated and preserved so well over time that it is the actual place that Jesus walked. Powerful!</div>

This is a picture of the town that is across the Kidron Valley. It is relatively close. It is so easy to see how David could have been on his roof and looked across to see Bathsheba bathing. This story reminds us of the importance of being in the right place at the right time. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Look at how condensed this city is. Everyone is literally on top of each other. I love that everything here is required to be built out of limestone. So pretty! </div>

Overall, this field trip was super fun and a nice little break before we started all of our finals. The rest of this week is FULL of tests, tests, and more tests! blah! Just a good reminder that I really am at school!<br />

Last week we celebrated the Passover by having a Passover Seder Meal. Ophir (our Israel teacher) came with his daughter and we went through the ritual Passover Seder Meal. It was so interesting and fun. The meal was delicious and I learned a lot about the Jewish religion. </div>

Today is the day I celebrate having the BEST FATHER IN THIS WORLD!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This last week I had a particular experience that made me realize/remember how wonderful my father is! I was on the bus setting next to a close friend who wanted some advice about being a father of a girl. He asked me what my father had done in my life to help my grow spiritually. As I thought about this question, I came to realize that I truly have the best father in this world. He has taught me to work hard in all that I do. If I am going to put work into something then I need to put my whole heart into it. He has taught me to love everyone. My dad is the most open and loving man I know. He has taught me to not be judgmental. He has taught me to turn to the Lord when I need him most. And most importantly he has always been there to talk to. I am definitely my "daddy's little girl." </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my favorite songs is "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw. I love this song and how much it reminds me of my dad!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; line-height: 21px;">Gotta hold on easy as I let you go.<br />Gonna tell you how much I love you, though you think you already know.<br />I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.<br />You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born.<br /><br />You're beautiful baby from the outside in.<br />Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.<br />Go on, take on this whole world.<br />But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.<br /><br />When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone.<br />Now look at you, I've turned around and you've almost grown.<br />Sometimes you're asleep I whisper "I Love You!" in the moonlight at your door.<br />As I walk away, I hear you say, "Daddy Love You More!".<br /><br />You're beautiful baby from the outside in.<br />Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.<br />Go on, take on this whole world.<br />But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.<br /><br />Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand.<br />But I won't say "yes" to him unless I know, he's the half<br />that makes you whole, he has a poet's soul, and the heart of a man's man.<br />I know he'll say that he's in love.<br />But between you and me. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

For our field trip on Monday, I learned how to herd animals, make pitas, make lentil soup, and crush spices! So don't worry, mom, my consumer science skills have not been completely forgotten! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We went to a place called Neot Kedumim! It is a Biblical natural reserve that is located here in Israel. This means that almost all of the plants that are mentioned in the Bible can be found growing somewhere on this reserve. It was extremely interesting and fun to have a "hands on" field trip. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PLfF9ZNz4rc/T9jq0rtX-qI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/fpAtep4u2u4/s1600/Herding+Sheep+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PLfF9ZNz4rc/T9jq0rtX-qI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/fpAtep4u2u4/s640/Herding+Sheep+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are some of the exciting things that happened throughout the day:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>We herded sheep and goats across a small field. It is fun to see the "farm" side of everyone. </li>
<li>A goat stepped on my skirt and wouldn't get off! But don't worry, I didn't leave until he did.</li>
<li>Seth, Thomas, and Abby (three of Brother Harper's children) joined us on this field trip making it so much more fun. I loved how honest and straightforward they were with everything. </li>
<li>At lunch Seth caught a small lizard. </li>
<li>We even did a little team building activity ropes course. SO FUN!</li>
<li>Lastly, a man who writes the Torah showed us what he does and how he does it. </li>
</ul>
<div>
All in all, it was an awesome day full of fun activities and learning.</div>

Oh ya I DO<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As proof that I am living the dream / perfect life / and I am the luckiest girl in this world, on Sunday (remember our sabbath is on Saturday) we all went down to the Red Sea and spent the day on the beach and snorkeling. SO FUN it kills me. Is this really for real? I ask myself almost every day, "When am I going to wake up from this dream that I am living?" So here is how the day went:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A four hour bus drive from Jerusalem to Elat </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Dancing on the bus + napping on the bus + and telling boy stories on the bus = best bus ride ever</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Arrived at Elat (Red Sea)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Got in our swim suits and slathered ourselves in sun screen</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Jumped in the water with attractive snorkeling gear and swam to our hearts content</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(side note: my first pair of goggles were leaky which meant that I had burning eyes full of salt water and I even swallowed salt water through my nose... not natural) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After getting a working pair of goggles, we swam around and observed the stunning fish/coral. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
SO COOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We spent the rest of the day sunbathing, playing football and frisbee on the beach, and braiding hair. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Below: Beach at Elat, AJ being "cool", Mike caressing my face as I hold him like a baby in my arms, Rob and I catching some rays, the group in the water, and Staley... being Staley!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Oo-LK6VkUfE/T9jmrL_qw3I/AAAAAAAAAT4/83cygxAXDJ4/s1600/Red+Sea+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Oo-LK6VkUfE/T9jmrL_qw3I/AAAAAAAAAT4/83cygxAXDJ4/s640/Red+Sea+Collage.jpg" width="448" /></a></div>
<br />
I had to add this stream of pics. MELISSA, MIKE, NATALIE, CRAMER, and RACHELLE! I just love these guys and their snorkeling faces!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Last week we had the opportunity to go to the separation wall. This is a wall that was built to try and separate the Palestine and Israeli people. In an effort to create peace, hatred and frustration was the result. It is powerful, the conflict that so predominately is in every part of this society. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, here I am... in the middle of what could be considered one of the greatest conflicts in the world: </div>
<h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The hands that build can also tear down. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Love conquers all. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ignorance reigns. Lives are lost.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pray for the refugee.</div>
</h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pray for Israel...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Our field trip on Monday was centered completely around the Holocaust and the history of the Jews during that time period. Our Judaism teacher, Ophir, was our guide all throughout the day and it was so interesting to hear this story from his point of view. The museum goes into great depth about the history and happenings of the Holocaust. It was an extremely humbling and sobering museum. At the beginning, we sat in a grove of trees that were planted to represent all of the people who were not Jews but helped to protect the Jews. Next, we went to a museum for the children. Over 1.5 million children were killed during the Holocaust. This part of the museum was overwhelmingly powerful. You walk into a dark room that has mirrors everywhere and candles but other than that it is completely dark. In the background there are names of children being listed off, where they were from, and how old they were. It was very sobering. After this we walked through the main portion of the museum that had a ton of displays and amazing facts. Overall, this museum was beautifully done and very impacting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After the museum, we walked up a small mountain and through a "Soldiers Cemetery." It was beautiful. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Monday was a great day where I learned so much about Holocaust and the Jew's history. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Sunday are our free days here in the holy land. This past Sunday, we did some pretty exciting things:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For our Ancient Near East class, we have an assignment to visit the Israel Museum in West Jerusalem. At first, I was not that excited to go to this museum (partially because I'm not a huge "museum" kind of person). But, to my pleasant surprise, the Israel Museum was AMAZING! The history in this museum dates so far back that it blows my mind. A few of my favorite displays were the Isaiah's Scrolls, the beautiful mosaics, and things relating to the life of Christ. Something that I found interesting was the fact that the history of Israel is extremely congruent with the religious history of the bible and things that I have been taught about my entire life. It is so cool to be living in the place that much of my beliefs actually took place. I LOVE IT!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WguHIUr7PaU/T9BJ4bGXbzI/AAAAAAAAAQw/BLCZikkF1QY/s1600/Israel+Museum+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WguHIUr7PaU/T9BJ4bGXbzI/AAAAAAAAAQw/BLCZikkF1QY/s640/Israel+Museum+Collage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This weekend we also had the fun chance to visit the Shuk in West Jerusalem. The Shuk is an outdoor market that sells mainly all sorts of food: dried fruit, meat, veggies, fresh fruit, olive oil, breads, pastries, and all sorts of other yummy things. It was fun to spend a little bit of time in west Jeru as well as to be involved a little bit more in the culture. Something that I have found interesting is that the culture here is so much more laid back than it is in Provo. I often will find myself frustrated because I am stuck walking behind someone that wants to walk really slow. I just have to remind myself that we are in no hurry and to slow down and enjoy myself a little bit. Also, the people here are always out on the streets and spending time together. While visiting the Shuk, I realized that there were so many people just relaxing in the walkway and talking to one another. Sometimes I wish that our culture could pick up some of these awesome customs. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And don't worry, while at the Shuk we picked up some delicious dried fruit (mango was the best) and some yummy pastries.</div>

This past Sabbath was such a treat for all of us students here in the JC. Each week there is at least one if not multiple tour groups visiting the Jerusalem Center for our church service as well as to see the beautiful center. This week we had the special treat of having John Schmidt in the tour group that visited on Sunday. John decided that he wanted to perform for any that wanted to attend that night up at the Augusta Victoria Church. First of all, this church is absolutely beautiful! Second of all, the piano was a dusty upright piano (funny... I bet he has never performed on such a simple piano). But lastly, he still amazed everyone. His talent on the piano is striking. There was such a spirit as almost 80 students, faculty and families, and his tour group (so a bunch of Mormons) sat in this church and listened as he played beautiful music! Overall, such a treat. It amazes me how we can travel half way across the world and still run into people that are members of this church. One thing I have come to learn is that no matter where we go in life, the church will be there. I love that!</div>

Confession: I haven't updated the blog since Turkey and a lot has occurred. So here is a little update of the past two weeks. Outside of the JC has been a blast. Inside the JC has been loads of "fun": reading, tests, class, more reading, eating, volleyball, more tests, and occasional PT's with Josh and Alvin. It finally hit me that I really am here for school... but our first set of midterms are over with and I'm loving the things that I am learning. </h2>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
JERICHO!!! We went to Jericho. Yep, like the road to Jericho where the story of the Good Samaritan took place. Also the place where the walls came tumbling down!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a picture of my friend Jerica with a Jericho water bottle! LOVE THIS GIRL!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next was Arab Night!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
SOOO FUN! For Arab Night, we all dressed up like the local Arabs (or at least tired to) and went to the Forum where two men from the Al Aqsa Mosque came and did the Call to Prayer for us. It was really interesting to learn about the call to prayer. After that ceremony, we went into the Oasis to have dinner. Our wonderful chefs had prepared an arab dinner for us... it was DELICIOUS! After dinner, we all went into the gym and learned a traditional Arab dance. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some pictures form the night. Interestingly enough, I really do look like an Arab. I probably could just stay here and fit right into the culture. But, because I like Utah, my family, and I like hamburgers, I think I will return in August. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />On Sabbath (which is Saturday here), I finally got to go to the Garden of Gethsemane. WOW! Such a powerful and peaceful experience. We had the opportunity to sing in the church that is on the grounds of this cite.. the acoustics in this building are amazing and it was an overwhelmingly cool experience to sing here. The church that owns this ground has done an amazing job of keeping the grounds beautifully groomed. There is such an astonishing feel about this place, and the thought that this could be where Jesus Christ atoned for my sins is a very powerful and impacting thought. The event of the atonement is real. One thing that I think is very interesting is a story that my friend Natalie told me about olive trees. I guess that once upon a time someone burnt all of these olive trees down. But, because they were so strongly rooted, they grew back again even stronger. This story of olive trees can be related to our relationship with Christ. When all of the world comes crashing down on us, if we are deeply rooted in Christ and the atonement, then we will be just fine. We will have the strength and courage to grow back even stronger than we were in the first place. I guess the key to life is digging your roots deep in the things that you KNOW so that when the world tries to destroy you, no permanent damage can be done. Christ is the key to happiness and success in our lives today. This story is similar to one that my aunt has taught many times! Thank you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
P.S. isn't this picture just beautiful??? I LOVE THIS PLACE!</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On Sunday morning, a whole group of us got up at 4:30 (in the morning) and headed over to the Western Wall for Shavout. It is a Jewish Holiday where they stay up all night and read the Torah. So we went to the Western Wall for the sunrise service. It was so cool to see all of the Jewish people worshiping. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After our experience at the Western Wall, a bunch of us went to the Dome of the Rock. WOW! This building is MIND BLOWING. The Dome of the Rock sets on the Temple Mount and it is a very sacred place. The Dome of the Rock is even more beautiful than I had imagined from afar off. I definitely will be making more trips back to this cite. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Monday we went on a field trip to the low hills of Israel. We went to the place where David slew Goliath and to a bunch of other cool cites. While here, our class reenacted the story of David (Robin) and Goliath (Blake). We got to sling rocks with slingshots. We also had the amazing experience of singing in a bunch of cisterns and bell caves. Such an amazing feeling. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just have to tell a funny story about this field trip! I had so many FUNNY things happen to me on Monday that it is kind of ridiculous. Mind you, it was over 100 degrees outside and we were hiking all around Tels and other cool ancient monuments (and don't forget that I am already a super sweaty person and that we have to wear pants that go to our ankles)! At one particular cite, we had been walking around/ climbing on rocks for what felt like forever in the blistering sun. When I finally got back to the bus and had situated the air conditioning to be blasting in my face, I looked down to realize that I had a gaping hole in my pants!!! YEP... thats right, at some point and time during our hike, I had ripped a hole in my pants! OH GOSH! hahaha But no worries, I quickly covered it up by wearing my fanny pack! To add to my struggles thus far in the journey, our next stop was at a location with a bunch of cisterns. These cisterns were all carved out of the ground that was made up of a chalky substance. Seeing as I was hot, tired, and a little out of it, I sat down on the ground at the beginning of this cite. The moistness of my pants (from excessive sweating) + the pile of chalk = natalie having a completely white bum, thighs, and calfs. Oh goodness.. so now I had a hole in my pants and they were covered in chalk. hahaha I don't think that I have ever been so excited to take a shower in my entire life! One thing I learned though is that by the end of this summer, our whole group is going to be so close that it is ridiculous! We already have shared so much of our personal self that it is crazy! But, I can honestly say that I love every single person here and I am beyond blessed to be surrounded by the very best people in this world!!! YOLO!</div>

Yes, that is right, for school I get to go on field trips to Turkey. Oh my, it was such a wonderful experience and the things that I learned and experienced will forever change how I live my life. Here is just a quick little list of some of the funny things that I learned while in Turkey: come to find out I am a picky eater (meats that cannot be identified are not worth eating); egg plant is slimy and disgusting; rain makes a country so much more beautiful; buss rides can be extremely fun and exciting if filled with dance parties, AJ stories, guess that song, and Brother Harper's endless knowledge; and that I absolutely love every single person that is here on this trip. It definitely was a "bonding" seven days together. So... here we go. This will be a little insight into the past week of my life. ENJOY!</b></div>

HOW BIZARRE IS THE GRAND BAZAAR?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is this place in Istanbul that is called the Grand Bazaar. It is like a mall but 100 times cooler. It is similar to an enclosed market and is full of people selling all sorts of things. I really like this because it was clean and there were so many interesting things to be seen. </div>

This was our tour guide, FATIH. He was wonderful. So fun and taught us a lot. He even joined in on some of the jam sessions on the bus. He gave each of us our first Turkish Delight... Pistachio was my favorite flavor but oddly enough, other than that I don't really like Turkish Delight.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Topkapi Palace: this palace is located along the bank of the Bosporus Strait (the water in the background). It was a beautiful and never-ending palace. I think my favorite part of this palace was the 86 karat diamond that was on display. WOW!!!</div>

AMAZING! The Basilica Cistern has 336 thick columns made of marble and granite that hold up the ground. It can hold up to 2,800,000 cubic feet of water. </div>

Back in the day, this stadium could old up to 100,000 spectators. However, today it just looks like the rest of the city with three main monuments. So we had to go back to our childhood days and just imagine what this magnificent race track would have looked like. But on the upside of things... another great CLASS PICTURE!!! Lookin' good guys!</div>

Gallipoli was stunningly amazing. Blue water, stark mountains and colorful flowers. Such a sight to be seen. Gallipoli was the sight of a famous World War 1 battle. One of the monuments there said, "Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now living in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... you, the mothers. Who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Story goes that Paris (the prince of Troy) kidnapped Helen (known as the most beautiful woman in the world) and took her to Troy. The Greeks sent their entire navy to rescue Helen. It ended with the "peace offering" of a wooden horse that was actually a trick. The Greeks had hid inside and when the night came they left the horse and won the war. </div>

Sunsets are my favorite and this sunset over the Aegean Sea was stunning. Our hotel was right on the beach and we had our own pier. The best part about this night was the fact that we had a bon fire / dance party. SO FUN! The hotel set everything up to have a bonfire and then brought out some big speakers and we all danced the night away. Best "spring break" EVER!!!</div>

ASSOS: aka the most beautiful place in this world!!! This was probably my favorite place of the entire trip. The scenery was amazing. We were at the top of a hill overlooking the Aegean Sea and off in the distance we could see the mountain range of Greece. The picture on the left is of my best friend Lauren and myself. She is just the greatest.<br />

Ephesus: such a magnificent ancient city. This is Sarah and I standing in front of the Library. The story that takes place in Acts 19 most likely took place here in Ephesus. I just have to end this post with one last picture! These two men are two of the greatest men that I have ever met in my life. They have such a deep knowledge and understanding of the gospel and this land. Brother Ludlow (left) is my Ancient Near East Teacher and he never fails to make me laugh. Brother Harper (right) is my Old Testament teacher and has more knowledge concerning scripture than anyone I have ever met. He is the greatest and has given me a desire to learn. But most of all, I want to thank these teachers for being so willing to leave their families for a week just to teach us and help us experience such magnificent things. They truly are examples of selfless service. Thank you for all that you do! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/106889109335963285771/20120521#5744945443520802242" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N2SI9xQDRt8/T7olcV8ObcI/AAAAAAAAAL4/6yBgwn2vJPo/s320/Best+teachers+ever.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
In the end, I just want to share one thing that Brother Harper has shared with me. Every day (even multiple times a day), he poses the question, "What do you know and how do you know it?" This simple question has caused me to search deeply what I know and how I know it. My desire to search the scriptures and learn and grow has been deeply strengthened. So my challenge today is to ask yourself, "WHAT DO YOU KNOW AND HOW DO YOU KNOW IT?"<br />

To anyone who may know me, it doesn't take long to learn that my absolute best friend and life-long example is my mother. This weekend we have the spectacular opportunity to celebrate all of the wonderful mothers and women in our lives. I cherish and appreciate all of the women that have had influence in my life. From reading the about the lives and examples of women in times of old as well as the close relationships that are existent in my life right now, the influence of righteous women is powerful.</div>

Seeing as I am currently half way across the world and unable to give my own mother a hug this Mother's Day, I thought I could send her my love this year from Jerusalem. Thank you, mom, for teaching me everything that I know over the years. Thank you for your constant love and understanding. I hope this finds you well and that you can feel the love that I have for you this Mother's Day! </div>

Above all else, I love my mother best because I have never for one day questioned what it is she stands for. My mom is firm in her beliefs, consistent in her actions, and loving in her deeds. Thank you mom for the example of deep love that you have for the gospel and for your example of steadfastness. </div>

To my sweet mother,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank you for the example and love that you have shown me for the past 20 years. Not only do I love you, I like you. You truly are my best friend, my favorite person to spend time with, and the only person I can honestly tell everything. Thank you for teaching me to be a woman, to be respectful, to love people, and to love the Lord. I appreciate the woman that you are. You are courageous, strong, faithful, happy, fun, steadfast, loving... the list goes on and on. I hope on this Mother's Day that you can feel my love for you coming all the way from Jerusalem. Thank you for everything over the years! Happy Mother's Day!!!</div>

Love always,</div>

I must apologize because it has been quite a while since I last updated the blog. So much has gone on, therefore this post is going to be a long one. But I hope you enjoy some of the adventures I have experienced over the past few weeks! Here is just a few of the things that I have realized/ thought about/ learned recently:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">Pitas are possibly the yummiest things ever!</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">We, as in all of the JC Crew students, are going to be the best of friends by the end of this trip because we are already sharing food, chap stick, sunscreen, sweat, nap time, and pretty much everything. We definitely have and will continue to see each other at our "best"</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">The Old Testament is a magnificent book that fascinates my mind.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">And lastly, that this is going to be the sweatiest summer of my LIFE! It is only May and I have already been more sweaty than ever before! BRING IT ON!</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a group of us entering Zedekiah's Cave. Super cool cave that goes on forever!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IlaY1tj98Cc/T6qX3rbY9QI/AAAAAAAAAH4/5s_W_ZPQkjc/s1600/DSC04265.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IlaY1tj98Cc/T6qX3rbY9QI/AAAAAAAAAH4/5s_W_ZPQkjc/s400/DSC04265.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Strike a pose in Zedekiah's Cave</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0T1Vbq8379E/T6qYEtHnsWI/AAAAAAAAAIA/YDavQClgzC8/s1600/DSC04286.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0T1Vbq8379E/T6qYEtHnsWI/AAAAAAAAAIA/YDavQClgzC8/s400/DSC04286.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Tour under the Jerusalem Center anyone? Yep... Hard hats and all. So fun to see that the center is kind of floating above ground only held up by cement cylinders. This way all of the electrical, plumbing, and everything else is easily accessible. And yes, don't worry, I left my mark along with hundreds of others that have been here!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_xrfq7Rlhas/T6qYRQCK3VI/AAAAAAAAAII/OeCz1gXADy4/s1600/DSC04294.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_xrfq7Rlhas/T6qYRQCK3VI/AAAAAAAAAII/OeCz1gXADy4/s400/DSC04294.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another visit to the Holy Sepulcher: Alvin, myself, Lane, Rachelle, and Ian. Just gotta love these kids!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JkXVXAvriJE/T6qYdI0OHWI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/GFfFYJi-nrY/s1600/DSC04308.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JkXVXAvriJE/T6qYdI0OHWI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/GFfFYJi-nrY/s400/DSC04308.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sunset on the Sabbath overlooking the city from the center. Has to be one of my favorite views of all time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TJjwMtxDlqc/T6qYkfOgzXI/AAAAAAAAAIY/41NLOAylayc/s1600/DSC04324.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TJjwMtxDlqc/T6qYkfOgzXI/AAAAAAAAAIY/41NLOAylayc/s320/DSC04324.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
So on Sunday (don't worry, our sabbath is on Saturday so our Saturday is really on Sunday... figure that one out) a group of about 50 students went to Tel Aviv. It was amazing! We toured the city of old Jaffa, played in the water/ on the beach, ate yummy gelato and falafel's, and just took a little break from the school life. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my new best friend, Alvin. And the beautiful Mediterranean in the background. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
And this is what we do on the weekends!!!! </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Strike a pose everyone!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok... just a quick funny story, as we were posing for this picture, some random guy from another tourist group walked up, took a picture of all of us, and then walked away! hahaha So great</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
On Monday, we had a long day of field trips. We traveled to the Negev Dessert where we visited a women's empowerment facility, lots of ancient ruins/cites, and hiked a mountain! So sweaty, so cool, so AMAZING!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There is this amazing group of women in the Negev dessert (the southern most part of Israel) that have started a company of weaving rugs, purses, pillows, and other home artifacts. This group of women are trying to become empowered and are promoting the rights and education of women. This was an amazing stop on our trip and I greatly respect what they are doing. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Lauren! She is such an amazing girl who is so passionate about the things that we are learning! I just LOVE her! We are currently standing under an arch of the ancient ruin of Avdat. It was a city that was on the top of a hill in the middle of the dessert. Somehow they survived and prospered.<br />
As we traveled throughout the dessert, I began to realize why people who lived here and are main characters in the Book of Mormon and Bible murmured. I probably would have not been that happy of a person either!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
On our field trip, we took this amazing hike that the students haven't done for the past two years but it probably was one of my favorite parts of the trip so far. However, I didn't take my camera because I didn't want to whack it on a rock! But just to explain a little bit, we were hiking in the Valley of Sin or Zin as it is also known (this is where Moses and his people wandered in the wilderness for 40 years). It is a valley with a small stream and then steep, rocky walls that go up for what seems like forever. At the beginning of this hike I made the joke that we should hike to the top... completely joking. Well karma has its way of getting around because guess what, we did hike to the top... the very top! I have never been so sweaty in my entire life. YUMMY! However, it was probably one of my absolute favorite hikes ever. The view the entire way was amazing and when we got to the top, it was striking to look back at where we had just come. When we reached the top, we sang "Redeemer of Israel" and the song echoed throughout the canyon. I love that. </div>

Well, that is all for now. I will update again soon. We head to Turkey on Sunday and I am beyond excited. WOOT WOOT! I just have to say that one thing I learned this past week is that it doesn't necessarily matter where an event took place but what matters is that the event did take place! This church is true. Take heart and keep the faith. </div>Natalie McKay Penningtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15476956455308498344noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5733555758309158017.post-54362280570509220742012-05-02T13:08:00.000-07:002012-05-02T13:08:55.659-07:00First Field Trip Anyone??? and the Pools of Bethesda<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Welcome to my first field trip! Such a great experience! The following pictures will hopefully explain and put into picture what it is I learned. Such exciting times.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my class. If you were to ask me I'de say it is the best class ever and definitely the "honors" class. Our teacher is Brother Harper and he is spectacular. One thing that he does while teaching that I really appreciate is that he really questions how we know things. He is teaching us to actually KNOW the scriptures and to ask questions. Such a great concept and way of teaching. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This would be me with the Judean Wilderness behind me. Running northward is the road to Jericho which is historically known as the possible path that the story of the Good Samaritan took place. Cool huh? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Amy Brown! I LOVE this girl. Seriously though, beyond having the most beautiful hair in this world, she is a spectacular woman and a great friend. This is us two standing on a hill with Bethlehem in the background and Shepherds Field in between. So beautiful. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh man... what to say. AJ is the man. This kid knows more about everything than anyone else here. This would be us at a lookout point just south of the Old City in Jerusalem. This is generally known as the path that Abraham may have taken on his journey to sacrificing Isaac. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Dome of the Rock anyone? Such a beautiful building built on such a beautiful Temple Mount in the Old City. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This would be some members from my class. We are standing on the East side of the Kidron Valley overlooking the Garden of Gethsemane and then over the Kidron Valley to the Dome of the Rock and the Old City. </div>

Once again this is my amazing rookie Amy! LOVE HER. We are currently standing just south of Gideon. I cannot even express how cool it is to actually put a picture with the words of the scriptures. </div>

Well that was the end of our field trip. It was such a wonderful day and I am so excited for the field trips ahead. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today, a bunch of us decided to run to town between classes. We went to the Pools of Bethesda. This location was truly beautiful. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2b3y7uccZ9k/T6EQ1kI8HdI/AAAAAAAAAG0/u--djpGuGNU/s1600/DSC04239.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2b3y7uccZ9k/T6EQ1kI8HdI/AAAAAAAAAG0/u--djpGuGNU/s320/DSC04239.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And then of course, I had to take some jumping pictures.... It wasn't hard to convince these three to have a little fun. (Rachelle, Alvin, and Melissa)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the one I was talking about earlier. These two are my favorite and they never leave a dull moment to be had. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I ate my first Falafel! YUMMMM! Falafels are deep fried ground up chickpeas... doesn't sound that appetizing but trust me... THEY ARE! The place we went put them in a pita with veggies, some yummy red sauce and then fries! Oh man it was good! I definitely will be making mores Falafel stops along the way.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, that is all I have for today. I will add some more pictures in the near future! I am so grateful to be here in Jerusalem. I am often overwhelmed by the gratitude I feel for this opportunity. I cannot explain in words or by pictures the amazing place this is but I hope that you are getting a taste. Truly such a wonderful experience surrounded by the most wonderful people ever! (The 80 students, faculty, faculty families, staff, and people over here are some of the very best I have ever met!)</div>Natalie McKay Penningtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15476956455308498344noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5733555758309158017.post-28334328246747637782012-04-28T23:46:00.000-07:002012-04-28T23:46:26.862-07:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok friends and family, here is a little update of the past few days in Jerusalem. There are a few things that I have learned that I am so excited to share and that I truly have loved:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">The people here really do LIVE their religion. Religion for them is not something that they only do on the Sabbath. Religion truly is a way of life and they form everything else about society and how they live to fit into their religion. This is something that I want to work harder at. I want people to be able to just look at my life and know what it is I live by my everyday actions.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">This city is spectacular. The history of this place is endless. Walls that were built date back to the 1400's. This is the place where Christ performed many great and important acts. This city truly is a holy city. </li>
<li style="text-align: left;">The smells here can either me so spectacular that your mouth waters or they can be horrid. Some of the spice shops just blow my mind! (see below)</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">And last, the spirit that I constantly feel while here is the exact reason that I came. You cannot set and partake of the sacrament and be looking out over the Garden of Gethsemane and not have it bring on an entire new meaning. </li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Below are some pictures of the past few days... ENJOY!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My first shekels. We were given 30 shekels for the first day out to spend as we wish. (Don't worry, 30 shekels doesn't get you far!)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2t7G1oR6q3U/T5w_B0aDDgI/AAAAAAAAAC0/MNvF8FBCFTU/s1600/DSC04091.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2t7G1oR6q3U/T5w_B0aDDgI/AAAAAAAAAC0/MNvF8FBCFTU/s320/DSC04091.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
"First day of school" picture... just for you mom! I am the luckiest person to be studying in such a majestic building.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TP5S8f9PepY/T5w_nP4zu-I/AAAAAAAAADE/MgxfibDPTQI/s1600/DSC04103.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TP5S8f9PepY/T5w_nP4zu-I/AAAAAAAAADE/MgxfibDPTQI/s320/DSC04103.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Garden Tomb? Really? Is this real life? These are 2 of my new friends Andy and AJ! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Aba3iE9Eq3g/T5w_85bqlJI/AAAAAAAAADM/kgD0VHwgnlc/s1600/DSC04109.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Aba3iE9Eq3g/T5w_85bqlJI/AAAAAAAAADM/kgD0VHwgnlc/s320/DSC04109.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Such an amazing experience! And I will be back here so many times. So excited for some of the experiences to be had here. It is such an interesting cite. You come from being in East Jerusalem and in the middle of the busy city to all of a sudden being in this beautiful garden full of flowers and pretty palm trees that has the garden tomb. AMAZING!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dV3zo-NEhRs/T5xLwXf7R3I/AAAAAAAAAEQ/0yrQWmdCm0s/s1600/DSC04115.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dV3zo-NEhRs/T5xLwXf7R3I/AAAAAAAAAEQ/0yrQWmdCm0s/s320/DSC04115.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The door on the tomb. Truth.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TIP96PEg99k/T5xL4QdH4dI/AAAAAAAAAEY/vkm_J9RTxA4/s1600/DSC04116.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TIP96PEg99k/T5xL4QdH4dI/AAAAAAAAAEY/vkm_J9RTxA4/s320/DSC04116.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the Holy Sepulcher (another building where many believe is also the place of Christ's burial). They believe that this little statue marks the center of the UNIVERSE! So of course... we had to take a picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b0tjOEt55LM/T5xMQCvZcPI/AAAAAAAAAEo/7DXlrGblTS8/s1600/DSC04133.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b0tjOEt55LM/T5xMQCvZcPI/AAAAAAAAAEo/7DXlrGblTS8/s320/DSC04133.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is one of the spice shops. Smelled SOOOOOO good. Amazing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lZDqTLH1Kow/T5xMLTZIRkI/AAAAAAAAAEg/Msshiob0omg/s1600/DSC04122.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lZDqTLH1Kow/T5xMLTZIRkI/AAAAAAAAAEg/Msshiob0omg/s320/DSC04122.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Setting in the Holy Sepulcher looking up at the beautiful murals on the ceiling. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Setting on the wall at the Jerusalem Center overlooking the city. Truly beautiful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First sunday with two of my besties, Rachelle and Melissa. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vvziVnqPtSY/T5xNBjd-rZI/AAAAAAAAAFA/KJMC8NaU5FU/s1600/DSC04150.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vvziVnqPtSY/T5xNBjd-rZI/AAAAAAAAAFA/KJMC8NaU5FU/s320/DSC04150.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just out on a little hike looking at some old caves and other cool stuff! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(Lane, Rachelle, and Melissa)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eV4AuFCm-Jk/T5xNMki-98I/AAAAAAAAAFI/XUXunkK88OQ/s1600/DSC04158.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eV4AuFCm-Jk/T5xNMki-98I/AAAAAAAAAFI/XUXunkK88OQ/s320/DSC04158.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, cool story behind this picture. Other than the fact that I love Rachelle, the hillside that is behind us and looks completely white is because it is. This hillside is the location where countless people have been buried. Yes, this hill is covered with headstones. Crazy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q_BcXXsgFnw/T5xNSkVIfjI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/7cnM3IRfS08/s1600/DSC04159.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q_BcXXsgFnw/T5xNSkVIfjI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/7cnM3IRfS08/s320/DSC04159.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This picture is for my grandpa and all of my other "farming" friends. Yep, its a tractor. Small but still a tractor. Funny thing is that you see them driving around all of the time here in the city. So fun. </div>

LOVE YOU ALL.Natalie McKay Penningtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15476956455308498344noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5733555758309158017.post-29851230021039478262012-04-26T06:37:00.001-07:002012-04-26T06:38:02.475-07:00And the journey begins...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My wonderful journey to the Holy Land started with a tearful good bye. I sure do love my family and miss them oodles already but knowing that it is only a few short months and that I will be so busy learning makes it all the better. Oh how I love these two people. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4UMlkq-Mw20/T5lHZ7YQt0I/AAAAAAAAABg/7UmOzD-nApg/s1600/DSC04052.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4UMlkq-Mw20/T5lHZ7YQt0I/AAAAAAAAABg/7UmOzD-nApg/s320/DSC04052.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next came way too many hours on a plane. We flew from SLC to JFK and then from JFK to Tel Aviv. We technically left at 11:00 am on Tuesday in Utah and arrived at 2:30 on Wednesday in Tel Aviv. Here are a few things that I noticed while traveling: security will ALWAYS be stressful, the plastic airplane food is not my favorite, the people of Israel already are some of the most kind people I have ever met, and that I already have made 80 new friends. This is going to be a wonderful trip!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(This trip was so fun with these two)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
WELCOME TO THE BYU JERUSALEM CENTER FOR NEAR EASTERN STUDIES!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was our first view when getting here. We were greeted by the staff and service couples with hugs, hand shakes, and lemonade. What a beautiful sight this was to see. The Jerusalem Center truly is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Melissa, Rachelle, and I as we first entered the Jerusalem Center. Pay no attention to the fact that we have all been traveling for almost an entire day... but yet so excited and amazed by the fact that we are actually in Jerusalem.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5MJmwZHF1P4/T5lLEnznygI/AAAAAAAAACA/dXsOkADZNzM/s1600/DSC04067.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5MJmwZHF1P4/T5lLEnznygI/AAAAAAAAACA/dXsOkADZNzM/s320/DSC04067.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Is this real, might you ask? YES!!!! We came into the center and immediately sat down in the chapel/organ room. The blinds were closed. As the President of the university stood to talk to us, the blinds slowly opened for this to be our view. Yes, just to the left of center is the Dome of the Rock. The Jerusalem Center is located on Mount Scopus which is part of the Mount of Olives. Our center mainly overlooks the Old City and the Kidron Valley. SO BEAUTIFUL!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is our cafeteria... the nicest cafeteria that I have ever been in. We call it the Oasis. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is Jerusalem at night from our balcony. Yesterday is Jerusalem's Memorial day and today is their Independence day. So last night we watched as fireworks were lit off over the horizon. Such a great experience! Oh and don't worry, the Call to Prayer goes off every few hours throughout the night. I'm sure I will get used to that at some point but needless to say, not much sleep last night!</div>
